A space for production, discovery, and dialogue in Cappadocia

A.R.C. – A Residence of Creation is an interdisciplinary creator-in-residence program founded in August 2022 in Uçhisar, Cappadocia, and supported by Taşkonaklar.

Drawing inspiration from Cappadocia’s natural, cultural, and historical context, A.R.C. offers a space for research and production across creative practices. The program invites artists, designers, writers, craftspeople, chefs, and creatives from various disciplines to develop work nourished by this context — engaging with Cappadocia’s geography, craft traditions, local knowledge, and everyday life.

Since its founding, A.R.C. has hosted more than 30 artists and creatives from around the world, and has developed collaborations with institutions such as Ambidexter and Galerie Philia.

Beyond the residency program itself, A.R.C. builds an open digital archive by sharing production processes and research through exhibitions, publications, events, and the A.R.C. Journal. By expanding collaborations with cultural institutions, galleries, creatives, brands, and local producers, it contributes to positioning Cappadocia as a hub for international creative encounters and research.

Who can apply?

Artists, designers, writers, architects, craftspeople, photographers, musicians, chefs, and creatives from a wide range of disciplines are welcome to apply. Priority is given to those whose practice is research-oriented with a focus on the region, who engage with local materials and knowledge, who are open to exchange, and who value ethical and sustainable production processes.

The Rresidency Experience

Throughout the program, participants are provided with accommodation, a studio workspace, materials needed for their work, local transportation, and guidance. They have the opportunity to work with local craft workshops and regional materials, deepening their relationship with Cappadocia. They also gain the chance to explore the region, meet local actors, and engage directly with Cappadocia’s culture, geography, and production practices.

After the Residency

Upon completing the program, participants are included in A.R.C.’s digital archive alongside their work and process, featured in the A.R.C. Journal, and welcomed into the community network. Depending on the nature of their projects and circumstances, they may also have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions, open studios, and similar events held in Cappadocia or Istanbul.
